Tips for navigating the hiring process

Make sure your resume is up to date and tailored to the role. Clearly highlight your skills, experience and education that align with the position.

Here’s what each status means:

Application received
Your application has been successfully submitted and is being reviewed by our team.
Under review
We’re taking a closer look at your experience and how it aligns with the role. This may include initial discussions and scheduling next steps.
Interview
You’ve been selected to move forward in the process. Our team will coordinate interviews and keep you informed on next steps.
Not selected
While we won’t be moving forward with your application for this role, we appreciate your interest in Black & Veatch. You’ll receive an email notification, and we encourage you to apply for other opportunities that align with your experience.
Offer extended
An offer has been shared with you, and we’ll work with you on next steps and timing.
Onboarding
After accepting an offer, this stage includes completing any required pre-employment steps as you prepare to join the team.
Onboarding complete
All steps are complete, and you’re set to begin your career at Black & Veatch.

If your experience aligns with the role, a recruiter will connect with you for an initial conversation by phone or Video Call via Microsoft Teams. This step is designed to learn more about your background while giving you a chance to learn about the role, our teams, and what it’s like to work at Black & Veatch.

We’ll ask questions about your experience, skills and interests along with some behavioral-based questions to better understand how you’ve approached challenges and contributed to your work in the past.

This conversation typically lasts around 30 minutes and your recruiter will walk you through next steps and answer any questions you may have.

If you move forward, your recruiter will coordinate your interview with the hiring manager and team. This step may take place in person or through Microsoft Teams, and we’ll provide all the details you need in advance, including who you’ll meet with and how to prepare.

Interviews are a chance for us to learn more about your experience and for you to learn more about the role, team and work. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, explore how your experience aligns and get a better sense of what it’s like to work at Black & Veatch.
